Below are the winning entries as selected by the staff here at Mr. Max CONTEST #1 "The E-Mail Adress" The story behind my email address: nancarlo Carlo I grew up on a farm. Before I was born my parents had a shepherd-collie cross dog named Carlo. My parents were advised when I was on the way to get rid of the dog because he might not take too well to a new baby. Am I ever glad that they did not listen to the naysayers. This dog became my best friend and there are pictures of me sitting on his back when I was very young. This dog helped get the cows. When Carlo was about 12 he got hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. Each day my parents carried him outside on a tarpoulin and placed him under a tree. Each night they carried him back inside to sleep. One day he decided that he was well enough to go with me for the cows. However he was still weak and he stopped a short way down the lane under an apple tree. I sat down with him and tears were running from both our eyes. I had to go on and get the cows on my own and he was still there when I came back with the cows. We had to go away for about an hour that evening and my Dad said that if Carlo was still there when we got back he would carry him back to where the dog slept. Well he was still there and Dad carried him.Carlo didn't try to come with me to get the cows for a number of weeks after that. Carlo developed arthritis in that leg and had a hard time walking as he got older. My father got pills to give to him to put Carlo to sleep, vets treated large animals at that time, but Dad never used them. You see this dog also saved my Father from a bull that tried to hurt my father when he fell down..Carlo took him by the nose and held the bull until my Dad got up. My brother wandered off one day and was found near the creek. Carlo was between my brother and the creek Dogs often go off towards water to die on their own. The day Carlo went missing my father hunted a long time before he found him about half way to the creek off in a field. That same day my Father burnt those pills that he couldn't bring himself to use. Carlo lived to be over 18 years old. Nan There were a number of dogs in between Carlo and Nan. Nan came into my life when I was 35 .I was married in August of 1974 and Nan was born in November. My brother raised Border Collie puppies ( which can't be registered because they are bred for their intelligence). His dog had puppies in November and I asked for a puppy. I picked her out and brought her home. My husband had been brought up in a household where they never had a dog; in fact his Father did not like dogs because of what the neighbours dogs did to his garden. It took a while for my husband to get used to the dog. To make a long story short my husband and Nan became the best of friends and every time my husband would put his clothes on to go about 3 miles to the farm, Nan was jumping at the door. Then she jumped in the car all the way to the farm while putting nose prints all over the passenger's side of the front window. Her only vice was trying to chase cars--Border Colllies are bred to work. Nan got a broken pelvis when she was 6 months old and this bothered her later in life. It was a sad day for us both the day we had her put to sleep because she could no longer walk. She was 18.5 years old. There are other dogs that I remember with fondness also but these two were special and I thought that it would be a tribute to them to put them in my email address and further more I think the two names sound good together. Marilyn c. - Gananoque, ON. Hello Mr. Max, I am so pleased that you are offering contests again. I am a great lover of your clothing line. My favourite thing to wear is a parachute twosome. You have branched out in so many directions, I truly could wear something of yours for every occasion!
My email address is : ladykcurler I tried multiple choices and could never find my name in conjunction with something else because it was always taken! As I had a Reliant K car at the time and was coaching curling at U of T and Seneca College, I combined the car which I called Lady K and the sport that I loved so much.
Looking forward to your next show at the Shopping Channel.
Sincerely,
Karen S
CONTEST#2 "The Best Story" My most favourite outfits are in sapphire. Even had a dress in sapphire. Of course I loved all the outfits I have had. I have owned several selections and sizes over the years and if broke my heart to give away most of my precious outfits last year. My husband has always laughed as if I like something I buy it in several colours.
I am desiring to get something in real red. My weight fluctuates and Mr. Max really helps a person’s ego. We all love the compliments for looking great.
My daughter is getting married next month on the beach in Penticton, B.C. and Mr. Max will be accompanying my wardrobe.
I was one of the lucky ladies once to get a call from Mr. Max, Senior. What a way to make a woman’s day by winning an outfit.
Also a warning to all, I was in Thailand and we are not supposed to wash clothes in our rooms so this once I sent it out – what a mistake they ironed the blue sapphire blouse (should say they scorched it). Believe me, only time I ever did not wash them myself and I never iron any of the outfits.
Thank you to the whole Max family to making me feel so beautiful and easy to live with the wash, wear and feel great. Keep up the good quality work.
Sincerely,
Sandra L. I would like to tell you about my 5 piece outfit. Some of the pieces were solid navy and some very a navy, ivory and green print. I was pleasantly surprised one day when I answered my phone and somebody asked if I had made a purchase at Kensington Clothing Company in Kensington, PEI. I thought there may have been a problem with my visa or something, but the call was to inform me that I had won an outfit from Mr. Max as a result of entering a contest on a card attached to the royal blue Mr. Max jumpsuit that I had purchased at the Clothing Company. I wore the new outfit frequently and, of course, the royal blue jumpsuit. I gave my mother one of the print tops to wear, as she was a senior on a fixed income and didn't have much extra money for clothing.
Thank you for your consideration of my entry. I have 3 wedding to attend this summer and would welcome a new Mr. Max outfit. I wear Size 14.
